Community Outreach Team

The Community Outreach Team provides community-based HIV testing for infants and children, clinical monitoring, counselling, adherence support and reproductive and sexual health screening and education. Children and adolescents are seen either in the home, at support group or in their community clinic. This has proved to be an extremely effective strategy for promoting uptake of services, reducing loss to follow up, improving retention rates and promoting adherence to ART. This approach directly supports the government clinics who refer children to the team for community follow up and vice versa.

Children and adolescents in the support groups are followed up at home by a Doctor, nurse, counsellor and social worker.
