Adolescent Voices on the Role of Psychosocial Support in HIV Care
The World Health Organisation (WHO) is currently updating its consolidated HIV guidelines with service delivery areas as one of the components for review. As part of that process, Africaid on behalf of WHO has led a global consultation with 388 adolescents and young people living with HIV from 45 countries. The consultation explored their values and preferences on the impact of psychosocial interventions in improving
HIV outcomes as well as other service delivery questions. In partnership with Y+ Global, a total of 388 young people were reached through an online survey translated in to five languages and 9 focus group discussions in 10 countries. The FGDs were mainly conducted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The findings from this survey were presented at the WHO Guidelines Development Meeting in October 2020. As part of this presentation, a short animation was developed to share the voices of young people participating in the global consultation. This is what they had to say:
